This workshop series is interactive and collaborative, so you can ask all your questions about the publishing industry and receive specific guidance at each stage of creating your graphic novel proposal.

    If you already have a proposal draft, or have started working on a script, sample pages, etc., the workshop will help you revise and rebuild the pieces you already have.

  • The Graphic Novel Proposal Workshop Series is an online event. All live classes will take place on Zoom. You will receive joining instructions in a downloadable PDF after registration.

  • Yes, the classes will be recorded for those who have signed up in advance.

  • No. This workshop is interactive. Participants are encouraged to keep their cameras on and unmute their mics to ask questions and have discussions throughout the class.

  • No. Your graphic novel proposal critique will be in the form of written feedback directly from literary agent Maria Vicente. Your work will not be critiqued live during the class or shared with anyone else.

  • The Graphic Novel Proposal Workshop Series will be helpful to creators working on books of any category or genre.

  • No. The Graphic Novel Proposal Workshop Series will cover both script and illustrated sample pages. You’re welcome to join whether or not you plan to illustrate your own book.

  • Yes. If you want to have a complete proposal by the end of the series, and a strong draft to submit for a critique, you will need to work on your proposal outside of meeting days. Maria Vicente will suggest tasks for you to accomplish on your own as the workshop progresses.

  • Maria Vicente is a literary agent at P.S. Literary Agency, but the Graphic Novel Proposal Workshop series is not affiliated with the agency, and the views expressed by Maria are solely that of agent and do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions, policies, or position of P.S. Literary Agency.

  • No material submitted for critique during the workshop will be considered an official submission. You are welcome to send Maria Vicente a query letter in the future using the proper submission guidelines, but this workshop should not be taken as an opportunity to pitch Maria for literary representation.
